Request for Information Regarding Bureau Civil Investigative Demands and Associated Processes

The Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection (Bureau) is seeking comments and information from interested parties to assist the Bureau in assessing potential changes that can be implemented to the Bureau’s Civil Investigative Demand (CID) processes, consistent with law, to consider whether any changes to the processes would be appropriate.

Civil Penalty Inflation Adjustments

The Bureau is publishing for public comment an interim final rule to adjust the civil monetary penalties within the Bureau’s jurisdiction for inflation, as required by the Federal Civil Penalties Inflation Adjustment Act.

Equal Access to Justice Act Implementation Rule

The Equal Access to Justice Act (EAJA or the Act) requires agencies that conduct adversary adjudications to award attorney fees and other litigation expenses to certain parties other than the United States in certain circumstances. EAJA also requires agencies that conduct adversary adjudications to establish procedures for the submission and consideration of applications for the award of fees and other expenses. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (Bureau) now issues an interim final rule establishing such procedures and seeks public comments.
