The Office of Servicemember Affairs: Charting our course through the military lifecycle
This report introduces the Office of Servicemember Affairs’ new focus: charting the financial issues a servicemember faces throughout his or her military career. We have received over 74,000 complaints from the military community since 2011 and this report concentrates on some of the most prominent financial struggles servicemembers describe to us. From enforcement actions resulting in more than $130 million in relief to a comprehensive list of educational tools and resources created to assist the military community through their career lifecycle, this report offers a holistic view of the work the Bureau has done to assist our servicemembers and their families along their financial journey. This is also in support of the Department of Defense financial education mandate in the 2016 National Defense Authorization Act.
