Call for Papers

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) will host our seventh research conference on consumer finance at our headquarters in downtown DC in May 2-3.

We welcome and encourage the submission of a broad range of research work. Topics include, but are not limited to: competition and market power in the financial sector; technological innovation in financial markets and consumer impacts, including the use of big data and the presence of algorithmic biases; access to fair and affordable credit for traditionally underserved consumers and communities; the ways consumers and households make decisions about borrowing, saving, and financial risk-taking; and emerging risks to household financial stability.

Disciplines from which we hope to receive submissions include, but are not limited to, economics, law and economics, and cognitive sciences.

The deadline for submissions is 5 PM EST Tuesday, January 2nd, 2024.

Authors may submit complete papers or detailed abstracts that include preliminary results and a disclosure statement, following the AEA disclosure policy . We ask that the cover page on submissions not include author information. Please provide a separate title page with the contact information for the corresponding author instead. The conference will be in person at our D.C. headquarters at 1700 G Street NW, Washington DC 20052. We cover travel expenses for the presenting author of each accepted paper in the program for those traveling within the contiguous United States.
