Summary

This position is located at Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Office of Regulations. As an Attorney-Advisor, the incumbent is an authority on the most significant legal issues and conducts complex projects related to the formulation, implementation and interpretation of laws, regulations and rules in one or more areas of financial services and consumer credit law. The incumbent frequently leads less senior attorneys in conducting these projects.

Responsibilities

As an Attorney-Advisor, you will:

  • Take the lead on the largest, most complex rulemaking projects and policy proposals in the Division. These projects often involve analysis of difficult and controversial issues for which there is little or no precedent.
  • Handle and resolve issues that have broad, national impact and precedent-setting effect, which may be highly sensitive and controversial. Issues have nationwide impact on depository institutions; non-depository financial services companies; and consumers.
  • Formulate conclusions and recommendations and present findings to senior management. Issues handled require expertise in one or more areas of federal consumer financial law, including, but not limited to: the Truth in Lending Act, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Electronic Fund Transfer Act, Federal privacy law, and Fair Credit Reporting Act.
