Webinar training

Each month we present a webinar on a financial education topic. Past webinars are added to the archive a few weeks after their presentation date.

Two free CFPB FinEx webinars in April 2020

1. Teaching Your Clients to Protect Against Identity Theft & Coronavirus Scams on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 (2–3 p.m. ET)

Lisa Schifferle, attorney with the Federal Trade Commission, will discuss some of the COVID-19 scams that are circulating and how to avoid them. She will also provide tips to educate those you serve on ways to protect themselves against identity theft as well as how to respond if they have been, or suspect they are, a victim of a scam or identity theft.

Erin Scheithe, from CFPB’s Office for Older Americans, will present on how identity theft and scams target older Americans and how financial practitioners can help older Americans.

Karla Bachmann, Financial Wellness Services Director from Branches, will present on the services that her organization is providing consumers to support them through the COVID-19 emergency.

Ms. Bachmann is our Stakeholder in the Spotlight this month. Her work at Branches, a nonprofit organization in Miami, Florida, includes financial counseling, housing assistance, food assistance, and tax preparation.

2. CFPB COVID-19 Resources for Financial Practitioners on Thursday, April 30, 2020 (2–3:45 p.m. ET)

Presenters from CFPB offices will provide resources for protecting your finances during the coronavirus pandemic. CFPB staff will also share downloadable educational resources for practitioners and consumers. Staff from the following CFPB offices will present: Office of Financial Education, Office of Servicemember Affairs, Office for Older Americans, the Section for Students and Young Consumers, and the Office of Community Affairs.
