CFPB v. Genuine Title, LLC, et al

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, or CFPB, and the Maryland Attorney General took action against the participants in a mortgage-kickback scheme.

In the complaint, the CFPB and Maryland allege that Genuine Title’s executives and the named loan officers traded cash and marketing services in exchange for referrals of business from those loan officers. This is a kickback that broke federal law.

Victim compensation

The CFPB contracted with RUST Consulting to administer victim payments. This matter is now closed.
