Data point: Final student loan payments and broader household borrowing
Our data point reports are prepared by our Office of Research to provide an evidence-based perspective on consumer financial markets, consumer behavior, and regulations to inform the public discourse. This ninth data point provides a closer look at borrowers’ use of credit as they approach and make their final student loan payments, and in the months that follow. The patterns highlight the interconnected nature of borrowers’ finances, as repayment of one type of debt affects payments and borrowing on other types of debt.
