The HMDA Explorer

The Dodd-Frank Act and the Bureau’s 2015 HMDA Rule changed some of the reporting requirements for companies under the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA). The Act and the Rule require companies to report additional new data points and revised some of the existing data points.

As a result, and in order to ensure the public has tools to analyze recent HMDA data, the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) has published the HMDA Data Browser and API for use with the expanded data collected in or after 2018, which allows users to filter, analyze, and download HMDA datasets. Loan-level HMDA data and aggregate and disclosure reports remain available at for data collected in or after 2017. Additional functionality will be added over time.

Although the HMDA Explorer will no longer be available after September 25, the data for 2007 to 2017 will continue to be available, along with compliance material and research reports about HMDA data.
