Submit a complaint

What you’ll need to submit a complaint online

  • Facts about what happened, in your own words, including important dates and amounts (Steps 1, 2, and 3)
  • Documents you want to attach to support your complaint (Step 3)
  • Name of the company you are complaining about (Step 4)
  • Your email address and your mailing address (Step 5)

Make sure to include all the information you can, because you generally can’t submit a second complaint about the same problem.

What will happen after you submit

We’ll forward your complaint and any documents you provide to the company and work to get you a response – generally within 15 days. (If we find that another government agency would be better able to assist, we will forward your complaint to them and let you know.) Learn more

How we use complaint data

Complaints like yours help us spot patterns and support our work to supervise companies, enforce federal consumer financial laws, and write better rules and regulations. Consistent with applicable law, we also securely share complaint information with other state and federal agencies to, among other things, facilitate supervision and enforcement activities and monitor the market for consumer financial products and services.
