Can a lender or broker consider the fact that I am not a citizen of the United States?

A creditor such as a lender or broker cannot discriminate on the basis of national origin.

However, a lender or broker may ask about your permanent residency and immigration status. A lender or broker may consider this information or any additional information that may affect its rights and remedies regarding repayment.

A lender or broker may also take into account any law, regulation, or executive order that limits dealings with citizens of certain countries.
