Fair Lending Report of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau

Endowed by Congress with a unique consumer financial protection mission, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau brings a new focus to questions of fair lending and equal access to credit in the consumer finance marketplace. In this inaugural Report on Fair Lending, the CFPB provides a comprehensive overview of our fair lending program and describes our work in this area from July 21, 2011, through July 20, 2012. Additionally, this Report fulfills congressional reporting requirements under the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (Dodd-Frank Act) (§ 1013(c)(2)(D) of Public Law 111-203), the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (15 U.S.C. § 1691f), and the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (12 U.S.C. § 2807).
