If I get paid through direct deposit, when can I withdraw the funds?

The bank or credit union must make the funds available on the next business day after the business day the bank or credit union received the deposit.

Many banks and credit unions make electronically deposited payroll funds available immediately, but they’re required to ensure the funds are available one business day after the business day they receive them. Ask your bank or credit union about its direct deposit policy for your account.

Some banks offer direct deposit advances where they loan you an advance that’s deducted from your next direct deposit. Be aware, though, that these advances may also include high fees.
