Servicemembers, veterans, and military families (collectively referred to as “servicemembers”) answer the call of duty every day to keep America safe. Congress charged the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau with coordinating financial protection for servicemembers, which includes working to make sure that when servicemembers encounter problems they get timely responses to their complaints so they can stay mission-focused.
Today we released our latest report, Complaint snapshot: Complaints submitted by servicemembers, veterans, and military families. This report gives a national overview of servicemember complaints, and also provides complaint information by state.
These complaints provide a window into the unique challenges servicemembers encounter in the financial product and service marketplace. Together the Bureau’s Office of Consumer Response and Office of Servicemember Affairs (OSA) monitor and analyze servicemember complaints to spot emerging issues in near real-time and identify continuing trends. These insights help shape OSA’s work to educate and empower servicemembers to make better-informed financial decisions.
