Financial well-being resources

Financial well-being is the ultimate goal of financial education.

Financial well-being is defined as the extent to which people feel that they:

  • Have control over day-to-day, month-to-month finances
  • Have the capacity to absorb a financial shock
  • Are on track to meet their financial goals
  • Have the financial freedom to make the choices that allow them to enjoy life

Financial Well-Being Scale

Because each person’s situation is unique, it is hard to measure financial well-being using only numbers like income, net worth, or credit score. That’s why we developed the Financial Well-Being Scale. You can use the score calculated from the scale to track and compare financial well-being over time and across groups.

To support the financial well-being of the people you serve, you can use the tools and materials below. Whatever work you do in the field, you can find resources for engaging with people, improving skills, building strong programs, and measuring results.
