CFPB Acting Director Dave Uejio today announced the appointment of new members to the Consumer Advisory Board (CAB), Community Bank Advisory Council (CBAC), Credit Union Advisory Council (CUAC), and Academic Research Council (ARC). Welcome to this meeting of the Community Bank Advisory Council. We created this Council almost five years ago because we wanted to ensure that we have a consistent way to hear directly from Community banks about what they are seeing and hearing in their communities and about how our work is affecting their businesses.
I welcome our Community Bank Advisory Council and we are happy to see all of you. Today we will talk about promoting financial education among consumers, especially young people, and about our new proposed rule on debt collection. I look forward to hearing your thoughts and concerns as we discuss these and other issues.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau announced that it is seeking applications for positions on its advisory groups, the Consumer Advisory Board (CAB), the Credit Union Advisory Council (CUAC), and the Community Bank Advisory Council (CBAC), which serve as key resources to the Bureau by providing valuable input and on-the-ground perspectives.
The newly appointed board members include experts in consumer protection, financial services, community development, fair lending, civil rights, and consumer financial products or services. They also represent depository institutions that primarily serve underserved communities, and they represent communities that have been significantly impacted by higher-priced mortgage loans.
