CFPB v. The Mortgage Law Group (d/b/a The Law Firm of Macey, Aleman & Searns)

In July of 2014, The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau sued The Mortgage Law Group (which did business under the name “The Law Firm of Macey, Aleman & Searns”) alleging that it charged homeowners illegal up-front fees, made untrue and other prohibited statements to homeowners, and did not disclose information to homeowners as required by law.

Victim compensation

The CFPB contracted with RUST Consulting, LLC, to administer payments for this case and to answer questions from consumers. This matter is now closed.
