On June 3, 2024, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) finalized the Registry of Nonbank Covered Persons Subject to Certain Agency and Court Orders Final Rule (also referred to as the NBR Orders Rule) to establish a registry to detect and deter corporate offenders that have broken consumer laws and are subject to federal, state, or local government or court orders. The registry will also help the CFPB to identify repeat offenders and recidivism trends. Read the press release here.

Proposed Public Registry
On Monday, June 3, 2024, NBR Orders Rule requiring certain nonbank entities to register information about their company and certain orders, as well as submit copies of those orders, to the CFPB. The final submission period for covered nonbank companies ends July 14, 2025.
The NBR Orders Rule authorizes the CFPB to publish the registry online for use by the public and other regulators. The proposed public registry would enhance the ability of consumer advocacy organizations conducting due diligence and would better equip organizations to warn consumers against companies with patterns or practices of illegal or otherwise harmful behaviors.
