Statement on Collection of Demographic Information by Community Development Financial Institutions
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is issuing this statement regarding Certified Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) receiving Federal financial assistance from the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Community Development Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI Fund). The statement explains that CDFIs receiving Federal financial assistance from the CDFI Fund may collect demographic information on the individuals the CDFI serves, consistent with the Equal Credit Opportunity Act and its implementing Regulation B.
