My original request included a government-issued drivers license and a recent bank statement showing my name and current address, both of which are recognized under federal law as sufficient proof of identity and address. \n\nOn XX/XX/year>, Innovis responded through the CFPB portal claiming a security freeze has been placed on my report. However, they refused to send me my required XXXX Security Freeze PIN unless I resubmit proof-of-address documentation that I already provided in my original request. This is unnecessary, duplicative, and not supported by the statute.\n\nUnder 15 U.S.C. 1681c-1 ( i ) ( 1 ), a consumer reporting agency is required to provide a unique personal identification number ( PIN ) or password for purposes of authorizing the release or removal of a freeze. Without the PIN, a consumer can not exercise control over their own freeze. Withholding the PIN after claiming the freeze is active is noncompliance with the law and effectively renders the freeze incomplete. \n\nAdditional Enforcement Concern : This freeze placed but no PIN sent tactic is effectively a denial of the consumers full freeze rights and a stall tactic that wastes time, creates inconvenience, and obstructs lawful control over ones credit file.
