This access also allowed them to impersonate us when interacting with financial institutions and service providers, enabling them to open accounts, verify transactions, and pass identity checks that would otherwise require our personal authentication. I received a summons to appear in court to answer charges of grand larceny. Upon investigation, I learned that that my information was made available in an identity theft ring that spanned across the united states and that there were multiple copies of my drivers license and actual social security card that was made available to multiple identity thieves across the U.S. I was able to get the criminal case number XXXX filed by the XXXX XXXX XXXX Police Department expunged due to the theft of my identity. \n\nOn or about XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX announced that an unauthorized party stole data associated with certain user accounts in XX/XX/XXXX. It was then that I learned that my personal information was made available to third-parties and actually being sold on the internet. The number of times criminals used my personal information to commit identity fraud and open fraudulent credit accounts and apply for loans and other benefits is too many to count. After discussing a range of negative impacts an unauthorized credit inquiry could have on my credit and finances, I used the telephone number I was given for Equifax Credit Bureau, and spoke to an Equifax agent, temporarily freezing credit inquiries, and requested that the credit inquiry from XXXX XXXX XXXX  [ XXXX. ] be removed from my credit report. The I attempted several times to call the number supplied for XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX '', but was unable to connect with that company, although I heard a disturbing ring tone sounding like a fax machine, every time I tried. \nXXXX different Equifax agents I spoke to after that advised me to submit a Dispute to Remove the credit inquiry in order to have the inquiry removed from my credit reports.
