The outgoing call lasted approximately XXXX minutes and began at XXXXXXXX XXXX \nDuring this call, an Equifax agent informed me that my drivers license and Social Security documentation were considered invalid, that my existing disputes were being marked invalid, and that I was required to resubmit identification including my full Social Security number. The agent explicitly stated that providing only the last XXXX digits of my SSN was insufficient. \nI explained to the agent that I have never provided my full Social Security number to Equifax for disputesonly the last XXXX digitsand that this method has been consistently accepted by Equifax in the past. \n\nDisputes Improperly Targeted The agent specifically referenced the following Equifax dispute confirmation numbers, all of which had already been accepted and issued by Equifax : Confirmation # XXXX Confirmation # XXXX Confirmation # XXXX Confirmation # XXXX Confirmation # XXXX Confirmation # XXXX Confirmation # XXXX Equifax must ensure that the closed confirmation numbers listed above were properly handled, and that the open complaints listed below are properly handled as well. \nEquifax can not retroactively invalidate disputes after identity verification has already occurred and confirmation numbers have been issued. \n\nProof of Disparate and Inconsistent Treatment Equifaxs claim that my identification is invalid is contradicted by its own historical conduct. \nI have filed numerous prior CFPB complaints against Equifax, all using the same identity-verification method ( government-issued ID and partial SSN ). Many of these complaints were accepted, investigated, and closed, with no indication whatsoever that my identification was invalid or insufficient. \nExamples include ( not exhaustive ) : CFPB complaint IDs from XX/XX/XXXX through XX/XX/XXXX, all marked Closed Company Responded Additional closed complaints from XXXX XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX, all processed using the same identification method None of the closed CFPB files reference invalid documentation, identity failure, or refusal to investigate due to missing full SSN This establishes that Equifax has previously verified my identity using the same documentation, and that the sudden demand for a full Social Security number is new, inconsistent, and selectively applied. \n\nImproper Demand for Full Social Security Number Equifaxs demand that I provide my full Social Security number as a condition to reinstate or process disputes is unreasonable and unsupported. \nThe Fair Credit Reporting Act does not require consumers to disclose their full SSN to dispute inaccuracies Equifax has repeatedly accepted disputes from me using a partial SSN Identity verification had already occurred, as evidenced by issued confirmation numbers Additionally, I was not provided any written notice identifying a specific deficiency in my identification or explaining how to cure it, despite Equifax claiming my disputes were being invalidated. \nAn oral statement during a phone call does not satisfy notice or documentation requirements. \n\nRelated Open CFPB Complaints This conduct directly impacts and appears designed to obstruct the resolution of the following currently open CFPB complaints, all of which have already been sent to Equifax : Your complaintt Open COMPLAINT ID PRIMARY CONSUMER PRODUCT AND ISSUE CONSUMER Despite my formal dispute providing clear evidence of inaccuracies, Equifax continues to report this item, violating the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ). \n\nTimeline of Events : XX/XX/XXXX : I sent a certified letter to XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ), requesting full debt validation under FDCPA 1692g. This letter also included a proposal for pay-for-delete. ( You can use your existing 'My Letter to XXXX XXXX Validation Request.pdf ' ) XX/XX/XXXX : My validation request was delivered to XXXX . ( You can use your existing XXXX XXXX XXXX ' ) XX/XX/XXXX : XXXX sent a reply letter. This letter provided inadequate validation, merely stating they \" confirmed '' the balance with XXXX and directing me to an online portal for \" materials received from the creditor. '' ( You can use your existing XXXX XXXX ' ) XX/XX/XXXX : I sent a formal dispute letter via certified mail to Equifax , detailing the inaccuracies and violations committed by XXXX , including re-aging and failure to validate. ( Attach your dispute letter to Equifax here ). \n\nXX/XX/XXXX : Equifax responded to my dispute, stating the account \" Remains '' on my report because the information has been \" verified. '' ( Attach your 'Equifax Dispute Results ' document here ). \n\nCurrently : The inaccurate information remains on my Equifax credit report. \n\nEquifax 's Failure to Conduct a Reasonable Investigation ( FCRA Violations ) : Equifax has failed in its duty to conduct a reasonable investigation into the accuracy of the disputed information, as required by FCRA 1681i ( a ) ( 1 ) ( A ) and FCRA 1681i ( a ) ( 4 ). My dispute provided clear evidence, yet Equifax merely accepted a re-certification from XXXX XXXX XXXX without adequately scrutinizing the provided facts. \n\nSpecifically, Equifax continues to report : Illegal Re-aging of Debt : My Equifax report shows a \" Date opened '' for the XXXX XXXX XXXX account of XX/XX/XXXX. This date falsely represents the age of the debt, as it is the date XXXX acquired the account, not the original date of first delinquency ( DOFD ). The XXXX XXXX bill provided by XXXX XXXX XXXX itself is dated XX/XX/XXXX, and clearly marks the account as \" Past Due '' with a \" Previous Balance '' from before that date. This irrefutably proves the debt originated and became delinquent long before XX/XX/XXXX. By allowing this re-aged date to remain, Equifax is permitting the extension of the permissible reporting period beyond the 7 years from the true DOFD, violating 15 U.S.C. 1681c ( a ) ( 4 ). This is also contrary to CFPB Bulletin 2014-01 regarding accurate DOFD reporting.\n\nInaccurate Balance Reporting : My Equifax report states the balance for this account is {$480.00}. However, the XXXX XXXX XXXX that XXXX XXXX XXXX provided as their basis for collection lists a \" Total Due '' of {$830.00} and a \" Remaining Previous Balance '' of {$720.00}. Equifax 's failure to identify and correct this discrepancy, despite being provided with the original bill, constitutes a failure in their duty to ensure \" maximum possible accuracy '' under FCRA 1681e ( b ). This also implicates FCRA 1681s-2 ( a ) ( 1 ) ( A ), as they failed to correct inaccurate information furnished by XXXX. \n\nContinued Reporting of Unvalidated Debt : I formally requested validation from XXXX XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX. Their response was inadequate, failing to provide the full validation required by FDCPA 1692g ( b ). Despite being informed of this dispute and lack of validation in my dispute letter to Equifax, the bureau continues to report this account. Ive requested from XXXX XXXX and Equifax and neither one of them provided no kind of Documentation of Debt Transfer to see if the alleged debt has been sold or assigned to another party, documentation demonstrating the transfer and chain of ownership is needed, details of the alleged impaired collateral ( charged off ), details of the securitization transactions of the account, documentation showing the collectors ( XXXX XXXX ) right to purse the debt, an authentic copy of the original credit card agreement with your signature, an authenticated record of an accounting ( explicitly ), and a statement of accounting pursuant to the UCC 9-210.\n\n12 CFR 1024.36 requests for information, acknowledgement of receipt, response to the information thats being requested and investigate and respond to the claim. \n\nIf XXXX XXXX or Equifax can not produce these details explicitly, to my knowledge there is no debt. It does not exist. If there is an alleged contract out there, the agreement was breached by XXXX XXXX, due to the conversion of the agreement that is based on securities fraud. XXXX XXXX participates in credit card securitization. They converted the agreement without notifying me of such deceptive acts into a ABS bond backed by financial assets, such as the credit card loan agreement that they are claiming that theres a debt. The bond was then sold to XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. The trust then creates and sells certificates backed by the credit card receivables to investors and these receivables comes from customers like me, when we make payments back to XXXX XXXX. So, if we are paying XXXX XXXX debts securities and others, whos paying the consumer debts? No where in the agreement does it says that consumers knowingly give up their rights to XXXX XXXX to have their agreements converted into an ABS, bond to be pooled with others credit card loans, sells it which then issues those marketable securities to investors that is backed by the payments of the cardholders. Dont you think if cardholders actually knew what was going on that they would agree to this? I sure dont. So, who really owns these loans if XXXX XXXX sells them to a trust? \nFrom my research, XXXX XXXX they transfer the ownership of these loan agreements to a special purpose vehicle ( SPV ) pursuant to their prospectus. \nThrough the securitization process, it allows XXXX XXXX to leverage off potential customers by using their existing customers receivables in paying off their debt obligations allowing them to free up more capital and mitigate risk so that they could make more loans. This here is a deceptive approach because they never recorded the borrower loan on their double entry bookkeeping as a liability only assets are recorded. This is a breach of the agreement and false misrepresentation and fraud. \nWhat is the nature of the transaction when it comes to the account thats in questioning? Equifax has to bring evidence and proof that a debt exists. XXXX XXXX never validated anything to me. I believe this debt doesnt exist. If it doesnt exist, Equifax has to permanently delete this error off my report immediately!","date_sent_to_company":"2025-05-16T04:19:41.000Z","issue":"Problem with a company's investigation into an existing problem","sub_product":"Credit reporting","zip_code":"30047","tags":null,"has_narrative":true,"complaint_id":"13551674","timely":"Yes","company_response":"Closed with explanation","submitted_via":"Web","company":"EQUIFAX, INC.","date_received":"2025-05-16T04:08:49.000Z","state":"GA","company_public_response":null,"sub_issue":"Their investigation did not fix an error on your report"},"highlight":{"complaint_what_happened":["Equifax has to bring evidence and proof that a debt exists. XXXX XXXX never validated anything to me.
