In our case, our accounts have been frozen prior to this breach and if anything occurred on our credit accounts would be the fault of Equifax only and would be liable for any damages. I submitted a claim for my spouse and I last month on Equifax website. Equifax sent us an email ; your claim # XXXX for XXXX XXXX and claim # XXXX for XXXX XXXX for {$120.00} in connection with the Equifax data breach. You must verify you have credit monitoring or amend claim by XX/XX/2019 or your claim will be denied. No one that was affected by this breach should be required to have credit monitoring due to this issue! This is unfair and may violate our laws since Equifax affected thousands of consumers which should be held accountable more than just {$120.00} for their inconvenience, aggravation, having consumers information being compromised just to name a few. Furthermore ; if there is another federal or state agency that will also handle this complaint, we request that this complaint is forwarded to them so Equifax is held accountable for their actions.
