That being said, its truly disappointing that the same credit bureau that caused most of my identity theft related issues is also the agency that Ive had the hardest time getting errors disputed and corrected with. I have provided ample amounts of evidence to help Equifax with their investigations, above and beyond the minimum amount of information required. Furthermore, and the reason for this complaint, is that Equifax will not block or remove a credit account that was opened due to identity theft even though Ive disputed it multiple times and provided the FTC IDENTITY THEFT REPORT with the dispute. I believe this is a violation of my fair credit reporting act consumer rights. The account I am referring to in this complaint is XXXX XXXX XXXX BANK with account number ending in XXXX, and a charged off amount of {$1500.00}. I have disputed this account multiple times. At One point in time, the account was being reported on my Equifax credit report twice as two separate accounts. I was able to get the one removed, but not this one. Even though I provided an FTC IDENTITY THEFT REPORT. It took Equifax over a year to block/remove another credit account and a collection account for that same account which was also opened fraudulently due to identity theft and multiple times an FTC IDENTITY THEFT REPORT was provided. Equifaxs negligence has caused me significant financial harm, more in addition to the harm they already have caused due to their data breach. Im having the same issue with a double reported credit account currently also. The creditor is XXXX XXXX ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ) which is the bank who issued my XXXX charge card. The account is being reported under open revolving accounts but is also being reported under other accounts as an account included in chapter XXXX bankruptcy. If you look closely, the dates the accounts are opened are the same. The one that states it was included in bankruptcy says date reported XX/XX/XXXX which was the date of my bankruptcy discharge, however it also says date of last activity XX/XX/XXXX. The account numbers are different because I had to have my card replaced but this is the same account and it is open and active. In my most recent dispute regarding the XXXX XXXX account that says included in chapter XXXX bankruptcy Equifax responded to my dispute not in my favor, stating that the creditor has verified the account as accurate. That simply isnt true so both Equifax and XXXX are violating my FCRA rights. I want the XXXX XXXX account blocked/removed from report and the XXXX FIRST account thats being misreported blocked/removed from my credit report. Equifax has destroyed my credit, preventing me from refinancing my truck, buying a house, and has caused interest rates on other accounts to be much higher.
