This position is located in the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Office of the Director. The CFPB’s mission is to regulate the offering and provision of consumer financial products or services under the Federal consumer financial laws and to educate and empower consumers to make better informed financial decisions. This position is a time-limited temporary position established to support the Taskforce on Federal Consumer Financial Law.
Research legislation, regulations, and cases involving Federal consumer financial law in support of staff attorneys and apply the results of this research to the specific problem or issue presented to formulate a recommended course of action.
Manage the Taskforce’s review of documents, including memos, reports, speeches, and other documents (including but not limited to the “Clearance process”). Serve as the point-of-contact for the Taskforce for all Clearance process related matters.
Review incoming documents and assign to the appropriate subject matter expert(s) on the Taskforce. Review comments for consistency and consolidates comments from numerous reviewers, reconciling conflicting comments.
Conduct basic legal and other research assignments under supervision of requesting attorney, as required, using library references, federal agency and other designated Internet websites, files, corporate records, private and governmental studies, computer databases, and other pertinent sources to supply needed legal or factual information for inclusion in memoranda, directives, or rule implementation materials.
Analyze data and draft relevant documents (e.g. memoranda, reports, summaries, charts, letters, legal documents, briefing papers, testimony, and presentations) as required.
52 - Due to this position being a detail, you will retain the pay you are currently receiving from your position of record. Bureau employees who meet the qualifications will receive a competitive temporary promotion in accordance to our agency policy.
