I get my paycheck by direct deposit. When can I withdraw the funds?

The bank or credit union must make the funds available on the next business day after the business day on which an electronic payment is received by the bank or credit union.

A business day does not include Saturday or Sunday, or federal holidays even if the bank or credit union is open. This means that if the deposit is received by the bank or credit union on a Friday morning, the money may not be available until Monday (or Tuesday if Monday is a federal holiday).

Many banks and credit unions make electronically deposited payroll funds available immediately. Ask your bank or credit union about its policy for your account and your payroll deposit.
